PET TRAVEL UPDATE

Walter and Darcy both rescued from the high kill shelter in Changwon, Korea arrived safely in Los Angeles. Both were abused and neglected by their original pet owners.

Walter was hog tied by his previous owner. His owner also tied a rope around his mouth to prevent him from barking. Walter still has a scar above his nose from the rope. Our foster taught Walter true meaning of love.

Darcy was neglected by her previous owner and was forced to be chained up in a small balcony. Darcy’s pet owner was later arrested for criminal activities and was sent to prison. The landlord had no choice but to dump her at a local veterinary hospital.

Considering what Darcy has gone through, she has an amazing charm that the minute you meet her, she will melt your heart away. She is currently being fostered by our volunteer Jeannie while we finalize her adoption this coming week.

Darcy is currently being fostered in Rancho Palos Verdes.

PET TRAVEL UPDATE

Kimchi aka Potato and the Shiba Inu siblings, Haru and Kenji finally arrived yesterday in Los Angeles. Both of our adopters waited 5 months to meet their new fur babies.

Per USDA’s (United States Department of Agriculture) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, all puppies entering the United States must be at least 6 months of age. This is the latest regulations set forth by the department.

All three fur babies arrived safely in Los Angeles with our flight volunteer, Jihye.

Our adopters had a busy Saturday settling in their new fur babies. Both families have previous adopted a canine from us and they were familiar with our adoption process. We helped both families with introduction to their current pet and all went smoothly.

So many wonderful individuals got together in an effort to save these precious fur babies’ lives: rescuers, fosters, flight volunteers, and adopters. Thank you so much!

PET TRAVEL UPDATE

More fur babies arrived yesterday in Los Angeles. Yesul was rescued from Kong Kong’s Shelter and Stitch was rescued from a dog meat farm located in Anseong, Korea by weACT (Annie and Ivy). We happened to find the flight volunteer at the very last minute and decided to have Yesul and Stitch join our flight volunteer. This way we can keep the adoption fee as low as possible.

We will begin reaching out to potential adopters who submitted an adoption application for Yesul this week. Stitch’s adoption will be handled by our friends at WUFAW. We will begin posting more available canines for adoption beginning tomorrow. Please be sure to check out our site.

PET TRAVEL UPDATE

Greetings!

We hope all of you are staying safe and healthy during this unprecedented time. We’re now on month 6 of this COVID-19. We’ve been truly blessed in finding last minute flight volunteers during this unusual time. Since it was at the very last minute, we had no choice but to pull an all-nighter here and there but it was so well worth it.

This week, a total of 5 rescued dogs arrived safely in Los Angeles: Koa (Australian Shepherd Mix), Chess (Dachshund), Ben (Maltese), Kuma (Cocker Spaniel), and Wynn (Japanese Spitz Mix). Koa was the first one to arrive on August 12, 2020. She found her forever pet family in Santa Barbara.

PET TRAVEL UPDATE

Elvin and Jingu arrived safely in Los Angeles yesterday. Jingu’s pet parents drove all the way from Las Vegas to pick him up from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Special thanks to Cinematographer, Yooseok for thinking of our rescued dogs and helping Elvin and Jingu meet their new families! Now that the State of California is the epicenter of COVID-19, it is definitely a challenge for us to find ticketed passengers to volunteer. We are truly blessed for him.

Traveling to Los Angeles and would like to become a flight volunteer? Be part of a once in a lifetime experience. It’s a wonderful feeling helping the dogs in need of your help. Becoming a flight volunteer is super easy. For more information, please contact Jackie @luv_du_posoong

STORY OF SOPHIA

Sophia was a guard dog for a factory located in a remote location. She was forced to live outside in short chain regardless of weather condition. She froze during winter and was dying in heat during summer. The owner never bothered to provide adequate water and food for her.

She was forced into pregnancy by stray dogs as she was in short chain. This factory is located next to the road (partially fenced). One of her puppies crossed the rainbow bridge as she was ran over by a car. Yet, owner didn’t do anything to protect the puppies. Thankfully, our rescuer Bomi discovered her and brought her into safety.

Four of her puppies found lovely homes in San Francisco and yet, she was still stuck in Korea due to adoption inquiries. So we began finding the right family for Sophia here in Los Angeles.

PET TRAVEL UPDATE

Today, Yani, Loki, and Kahn arrived in Los Angeles to finally meet their forever pet parents. We really wanted these three rescued dogs to find their permanent family who will appreciate them for who they are.

Yani had zero chances of being adopted in Korea because she was not a pure breed. She was forced to love in a once a no-kill shelter in Changwon, Korea. As we’ve mentioned on one of our postings on social media, this shelter has no choice but to euthanize over 200 dogs as their facility is completely full. They even turned their inventory room into another room, hoping to give abandoned dogs new lives.

However, the city official has ordered them to euthanize dogs to make room for newly admitted dogs. We wish we can rescue all lives but reality hits. Loki was also rescued from this high kill shelter. A pure breed poodle with zero adoption inquiries.

Kahn was rescued from a high kill shelter in Pyeongtaek, Korea. We really took our time in finding a right home for Kahn as he holds a special place in our hearts. We began to learn that he was abused by his original owner. Whenever he sees men, he will bark non-stop. Regardless of his behavioral issues, our adopters wanted Kahn.

We will be posting more available dogs for adoption next week. Please don’t forget to check out our site. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support. This means a lot to us. Thank you so much!

With Gratitude,

Joey & Bailey Team

EMERGENCY FUNDRAISE FOR OUR FRIENDS AT weACT RESCUE ORGANIZATION

Annie and Ivy have formed their own rescue organization in a fight against dog meat trade. They need to raise $25,000 by the 15th of this month (within 2 days) to fly their extra-large Dane breeds rescued from the Anseong dog meat farm. The only way for extra-large size breeds to fly is via cargo only due to the airline’s strict size restrictions. Presently, they don’t have enough funds to cover their cargo flight fees.

Korea is the only country in the world that commercially breeds factory farm dogs for meat consumption, by the thousands! Rescuing the dogs from these meat farms is not difficult, the reason why people are reluctant to save them is because of the process that follows. This includes costly vet bills, boarding if fosters are not available and the most difficult part, finding suitable adopters. Chances for adoption are higher overseas, however, this difficult process has become even more impossible due to the pandemic. Finding a flight volunteer has become rare and sending the dogs as cargo costs nearly 10 times more! We do not want to give up on these precious babies. We beg you to help us save these poor helpless puppies born into hell and give them a chance at a beautiful life.
