OUR FOSTERS IN KOREA
As you may be aware, all of the dogs we rescue must be fostered prior to their international travel. This way, they will be able to get acclimated into their new home faster. While the dogs are fostered, our fosters provide basic training and take trips to the vet to make sure they are fully vetted prior to departure.
Joey & Bailey Foundation is operated by volunteers. Everyone involved in all of our rescues are all volunteers. What’s great about our adoption process is, we connect you directly to the rescuers and/or fosters. This way, you have an opportunity to get to know the dog you’re interested in adopting. We strongly believe in transparency and since you will be responsible for a dog you intend to adopt, we want to make sure you’re 100% comfortable. You will have plenty of time to get to know the dog you will be committed to.
Our version of meet and greet process is deeper and safer than your traditional meet and greet of solely an hour. The only downside will be that you will not be able to see them in person. However, with frequent updates with videos and photos, you will be surprised of how much information our fosters provide.
For more information on how our adoption process works, please check out our FAQS page.

21 SMALL BREEDS RESCUED FROM DOG MEAT FARM
Yesterday, our friends over at @we.a.c.t made an emergency rescue at Gimpo dog farm. This farm is located in a redevelopment area and he is forced to vacate. When they commenced a conversation with the farmer, he was adamant about keeping the dogs so he could get compensated for the land and his "business”. With continuous persuasion and coercion, he finally gave up ownership of all 21 dogs at the farm and signed their surrender agreement that he'll never have dogs again.
According to the farmer, he never slaughtered but only sold the dogs to slaughterers and dog auctions. Our crazy sisters need our help to pay for all medical expenses for these 21 fur babies. Your donation will save their lives. You will be donating directly to @we.a.c.t . Any amount will be greatly appreciated! 🙏
As a reminder, @joeyandbailey do not raise any funds towards our rescue. We only help the groups desperately in need of our help to help raise funds for them. We will help these 21 lovelies find a wonderful home in the states! ❤️

ADOPTION UPDATE
Greetings!
We sincerely hope all of you are staying healthy, sane, and safe during this unprecedented time. Since November 2020, the number of adoption applications received on a monthly basis has doubled. We’re doing our best to speed up the process. If you’ve submitted an adoption application, you will be competing against a minimum of 50 applicants.
We will no longer accept adoption applications for the below-mentioned canines:
Lexie (Golden Retriever), Midge (Golden Retriever), Smokey (Miniature Poodle), Collin (Miniature Poodle), Rookie (Pomeranian), Audrey (Jindo Mix), 6 Jinhae Puppies (Jindo Mixes), Basil (Japanese Spitz Mix), and Austin (Welsh Corgi Pembroke).
If you’ve submitted an adoption application for any one of them, we began reaching out to the approved potential adopters to schedule a phone interview with us. If you have not heard back from us within 3-4 weeks, we regret to inform you that we have chosen a stronger applicant.
We will be posting more available pets for adoption beginning of next week.
Thank you,
Joey & Bailey Team
LEO'S SHELTER IN PAJU, KOREA
Our team recently discovered @leo_pajucity_shelter. Currently, there is a total of 60 dogs that needs immediate help. The majority of these dogs were rescued on the day to be killed at the local high kill shelters in Korea. Some were either stray or abandoned by their previous owners.
This shelter is operated by a handicapped individual and it’s impossible for him to take care of each and every dogs. In the past, another well-known rescue organization in Korea approached him and said they will help with the adoption process. (Many of their fosters are currently following us). However, instead of helping, they took advantage of his kindness and left behind 10 dogs their organization rescued.
This individual is having financial difficulties and could barely take care of himself. This place has kibbles that will last them only a month. We have reached out to the rescue organization in Korea with who we have a love and hate relationship with and they’ve agreed to send 2 tons of kibbles.
This place was originally discovered by one of our foster @protective_diary. She fostered Ivy and now fostering Isabelle and Tera. Presently, it is only her and her friends sending kibbles to this shelter. We really like all of these dogs to live their lives to the fullest.
We will begin the rescue/adoption process for the first 7 dogs. Please look for their adoption profiles this month. (Not sure which week as it depends on how fast we can move).
45 DOGS RESCUED FROM AN ILLEGAL PUPPY MILL IN CHUNCHEON, KOREA BY WEACT!
PLEASE HELP OUR FRIENDS RAISE FUNDS TO COVER FOR ALL MEDICAL EXPENSES.
Donate via GoFundMe
Hello everybody,
My name is Ivy, co-founder of WEACT Korean dog rescue created for the love of all dogs with my rescue partner and WEACT Founder Annie. I’ve asked our friends at Joey & Bailey to help us raise funds for 45 dogs rescued from an illegal puppy mill in Chuncheon, South Korea. 2020 has been a rough year for everyone. I'd like to start by thanking all of you who have supported hundreds of WEACT rescue dogs who survived Siheung, Anseong, and a seafood restaurant dogmeat farm this year. We also rescued dogs from hoarders in Seoul. None of these rescues can be planned in advance since we never know what tip we'll get when and whether the rescue will be a success or not. Lo and behold! Our last rescue of 2020 has happened and we were able to rescue 45 beautiful, innocent souls from an illegal puppy mill in Chuncheon, South Korea.
A firsthand account was written by Annie:
On Dec 4th, we received a tip about “many dogs in cages.” We thought it was another dog meat farm and started researching the land use for violations. In the first picture, we could identify one Jindo looking dog and the second picture showed an array of wire cages that seemed empty. We went to the site on the 8th and found about 40 corgis, Shiba Inus, Jack Russells, and Husky. It wasn't a dogmeat farm, but an illegal puppy mill.
The owner spotted us and told us to leave the property. We pretended to be a buyer and got his phone number. He had been illegally breeding and selling dogs for 20+years. In the past, he sold exotic breeds like Great Danes, malamutes, Cane Corsos, bulldogs and had recently switched to popular breeds like Welsh Corgi Pembroke, and Shiba Inus through his blog, cafe, and youtube channel with 2.7k followers. He successfully disguised himself as a legitimate breeder, showing puppies in pretty backgrounds when in reality, these precious little souls were shivering in this bitter cold with goop-like food waste and frozen water. He’d sold at least 500 puppies over the years and profited tens of thousands of dollars during the process.
Yesterday morning, our crew disguised as a buyer for one of the dogs and collected evidence of cash exchange for a Shiba Inu puppy. We also accrued evidence for tax evasion with his past sales. There were myriad illegal activities on the puppy mill: animal protection, livestock waste, construction, water preservation, and tax laws were being broken.
We prepared a document enlisting all the illegal activities he can be charged with hopes of using them as leverage for the negotiation of the dogs. But all of us worried that the breeder will not give up dogs easily as this has been a lucrative business for him for too many years. Out of all the rescues we’d done, we did the most research and got so much help from other volunteers as well. However, we were still scared and hopeless that he wouldn’t give up any dogs.
In the PM, we went to the puppy mill with YTN media press and Chuncheon city’s animal protection team. Once the farmer showed up, he kicked everyone off the property and only allowed the city officials to enter. The city charged him with illegal breeding and after talking with the city, he agreed to talk to only one person from WEACT.
We were able to successfully negotiate to get the ownership of all dogs on the property except for five and take down the entire facility. We couldn’t believe what we were hearing and started getting ready to rescue before he changed his mind. Yesterday, WEACT has secured the remaining 5 dogs + 1 husky that was hidden by the breeder. Every single dog on the puppy mill farm has been rescued! No dogs left behind!!
Because we hadn’t expected getting even a single dog to be rescued, we only had five crates and not enough cars. But we had so many wonderful volunteers on the site and everyone in our rescue chatroom was also on standby. As soon as we secured the release of the dogs, we started making calls to vets and miraculously acquired 39 spots at vets. People started driving around, collecting boxes and tapes so we could make temporary crates. We still didn’t have enough cars so we started reaching out for help on Instagram.
As soon as help request got out, people from 90-100 miles away got in their cars and came to the site to save these dogs. By 6:30pm, we were able to get all the babies out and eventually checked in at vets. Our partner vets who had already gone home came back to open their doors for our transports. It was a day of blessing and miracle.
We got to see the phrase “It takes a village to rescue” coming to life with our own eyes, live-time. We are beyond grateful for everyone who came to fight for the dogs, for those who coordinated logistics and helped with research behind-the-scene and supporters. Thank you so much for saving these babies. You guys saved them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for ACTING WITH US. And yes, while we are rejoiced at the fact that the dogs are out of the hell but the real work begins now. They now have to get vetted and acclimated so they can get adopted.
Please help these dogs’ journeys by donating so we can afford their vet costs, boarding fees, and eventually their freedom flight costs. Every dollar goes directly towards the dogs. WEACT is a nonprofit, 100% volunteer run rescue based in South Korea.
ANOTHER LOST PET IN FULLERTON, CALIFORNIA
We did a brief posting on our Instagram and Facebook page of a missing dog in the Fullerton area. She has escaped the backyard of her new home in less than 24 hours of her arrival from Korea. We wished we knew about her sooner. Our group is in contact with the rescuer and we really need to unite again as one and find this poor little girl. Joey & Bailey would like to help this rescuer. We can’t ignore it just because it’s not one of our rescued dogs. Every dog sent by every group is precious. We need to unite as one and help this rescuer!
She spent many months in the high kill shelter in Masan, Korea. Presently, the adopter is not being cooperative and refuses to offer help! Rescuer asked her to help with the posting flyers but again, she is unwilling to cooperate. Yours truly spoke to the rescuer via phone. She broke into tears. It was definitely not the fault of the rescuer but we blame the two-faced adopter!!!!
We really need more volunteers in Fullerton, Buena Park, and the La Habra area to help with flyer postings. If you have time this week, please DM us. Our volunteers are standing by. Don’t forget to share this flyer on your Nextdoor, Facebook, Instagram, etc… We don’t want this fur baby to think she was abandoned by her family again. Now, she is lost in an unfamiliar area without proper food and water. We really want to help find this girl. Thankfully, the rescuer already reached out to the same pet tracker, Babs Fry.
Today, we began posting flyers to the designated areas instructed by the pet tracker. Wally also joined to help his mama. This week, our team will be heading back again on Tuesday, and Wally’s adopter is still in the area posting more flyers. But we need to post as many flyers as possible. Please, please, please, help!
We want her to unite with her rescuer as the adopter already surrendered this missing girl. We don’t want this fur baby to think no one cares about her. All of us care and we want to many warmhearted people care for her and appreciate her presence. We want to send this precious fur baby nothing but positive energy so that she will remain strong!
Please don’t forget to post and share on Nextdoor, Facebook, Instagram, etc... For more information, please contact us.
Lost in less than 24 hours after her arrival to her new home in Fullerton, California. Shame on the adopters!
LOST PET IN SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA
UPDATE ON TEDDY FROM YOUUMBBA RESCUE ORGANIZATION
Professional pet tracker began searching for Teddy beginning today. Per her guidance, we will be using a new flyer for people to post. Presently, we still need more volunteers to head over to Santa Clarita area to help post flyers.
If you or your family/friend(s) reside in Santa Clarita area, please share this flyer on Nextdoor and any social media. This is a time for all animal lovers to unite as one for the sake for Teddy. Tomorrow, we have a volunteer who will be driving 3 hours to help post more flyers.
This boy was sent to the United States by a rescue group in Korea to an experienced adopter in Santa Clarita. We found out about this boy a week prior to finding Melissa. We wished we knew about it earlier but instead of sharing, they hid about the lost boy. We sincerely hope they revalue and toughen up their adoption process to avoid the same mistake. We cannot let the dog suffer because of human’s bad judgment call.
This handsome boy was rescued from Byeol-Neh Dog Meat Farm located in Namyang-ju, Gyeonggi Provence. With the help of brave rescuers, he and many other dogs were able to avoid cruel death. Inside this evil dog farm, many innocent dogs lost their lives. These dogs were either abandoned by their previous owners, stolen, or strays.
Unfortunately, this boy had hard time getting adjusted to his new home in Santa Clarita and was surrendered by his adopter. The day he was supposed to be transferred to his foster’s home, he disappeared. Once we find this special boy, lovely ladies at @wufaw_official will handle adoption process. 🙌

PET TRAVEL UPDATE
More fur babies arrived in Los Angeles! Woo hoo! We had back to back flight arrivals. On November 7, 2020, Charlotte and Ivy arrived in Los Angeles with help from our flight volunteer Eunjin. Charlotte found her forever home in Beverly Hills, California, and Ivy in Los Angeles, California. Big huge thanks to our adopters for welcoming these precious lives as your new family member.
The next day, more fur babies rescued from a high kill shelter in Changwon, Korea arrived in Los Angeles, California. Glenn (West Highland White Terrier Mix) and Nana (Cairn Terrier Mix) found their forever families. We received a high volume of adoption applications for Glenn and it took us awhile to find the right home for him. After reviewing of many adoption applications and phone interviews, we finally found his forever pet parents.
PET TRAVEL UPDATE
Oh boy! We had a busy month in November. Our team was worried about the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were afraid many potential adopters will backout. Thank goodness we were wrong. We had many of our rescued fur babies arrive in Los Angeles for the month of November.
Komi (Japanese Spitz Mix) and Wally (Labrador Retriever) arrived safely in Los Angeles on November 1, 2020. Komi found a loving home in Los Angeles. For Wally, he was fostered by our team member Jeannie, for us to buy some time in finalizing his adoption process. Due to the pandemic, it’s definitely a challenge for us to find a flight volunteer to help us transport our rescued dogs. We had one spot left and we’ve decided to have Wally join Komi on their first international travel to America.
Wally found his forever home in Brea, California. He is being spoiled by his pet parents.

PET TRAVEL UPDATE
More of our precious rescued fur babies arrived on October 7, 2020 to meet their forever pet family here in Los Angeles, California. Both Momo and Toppy were rescued from a high kill shelter in Changwon, Korea and Jun was rescued from a high kill shelter in Gangneung, Korea.
It’s hard for us to believe that all three were unwanted in Korea. We’re thankful these three found their amazing pet parents here. We’re very sure that our adopters will take great care of them.
PET TRAVEL UPDATE
More of our rescued fur babies arrived in Los Angeles to begin their new lives. Damian (Shiba Inu Mix) and Havana (Alaskan Malamute Mix) arrived in Los Angeles on September 27, 2020, together with their flight volunteer Jae.
Check in time. The whole process was super easy for our flight volunteer as we prepare all necessary documents.
Damian and Havana were both looking forward to their first international trip.
Damian was adopted by Waffle’s (Australian Shepherd Mix) pet parents and we will be finalizing Havana’s adoption tomorrow. Both were rescued from a high kill shelter in Changwon, Korea. Special thanks to our flight volunteer Jae for giving these two an opportunity to begin their lives in the states sooner than we anticipated. You rock!
PET TRAVEL UPDATE
More fur babies arrived on September 17, 2020 via cargo. Welcome to Los Angeles Scone (Welsh Corgi), Boo (Maltese), and Zero (Terrier Mix).
Scone and Boo were rescued from a high kill shelter in Changwon, Korea. How can anyone think of dumping these two precious fur babies at a high kill shelter?
Scone was abandoned by his original pet owners for no reason. His owners decided to walk him into the shelter himself. Thankfully, Scone found his forever family in Thousand Oaks, California. He is being spoiled on a daily basis by his human big brothers, Trevor and Christopher. We’re so thrilled that Scone found a loving family here in the states.
Boo was abandoned by his pet owner as she no longer wanted to be responsible for this precious 6 months old puppy. Luckily, Boo found his forever pet family in Torrance, California.
Benjamin was rescued from a high kill shelter in Anseong, Korea. He was admitted to this shelter when he was less than 2-3 months old. This shelter is a designated shelter for the City of Anseong. Benjamin was rescued by @we.a.c.t on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. They’ve managed to find a foster for Benjamin in Seoul.
Few months later, Zero rescued from a hoarder in Seoul joined Benjamin and his foster. They were fostered together and formed a bond between them. These two were inseparable and became BFF. However, chances of them getting adopted together was quite slim.
Benjamin was the first one to fly over to Los Angeles. He found his forever home in Manhattan Beach. The moment our adopter saw Benjamin, she knew he was the one for her and her family. The rescuer group asked, “What are the chances of Zero being adopted by Benjamin’s pet parents?” Answer was “Zero”.
We cautiously brought up story of Zero and Benjamin to our adopter and with zero hesitation, adopter said, “Let’s have them reunite in Los Angeles”. We couldn’t believe it. This was indeed a miracle.
PET TRAVEL UPDATE
More fur babies arrived yesterday in Los Angeles. Adaline and Waffle were escorted by our flight volunteer. With her help, they were able to meet their forever families sooner than we anticipated.
Adaline was rescued from an elderly couple in Seoul, Korea. She was living in a short-chain outside their house regardless of the weather conditions. Thanks to their neighbor, we were able to rescue her and bring her into safety. Adaline found her forever family in Malibu, Korea.
Waffle was rescued from a high kill shelter in Changwon, Korea. She once had a home but was neglected and abandoned. She made it to the kill list but we managed to rescue her just in time. Waffle found her forever family in West Los Angeles and she now has a new name of Chibi.
PET TRAVEL UPDATE
We had a super busy week in the midst of chaos. We were blessed with two wonderful flight volunteers who went out of their way for our rescued dogs. Mia and Mitch arrived safely in Los Angeles on September 11, 2020. Mia was greeted by her forever pet daddy and Mitch were greeted by our fosters Meiwen and Lenny (Olive’s Adopter). Olive was rescued from an illegal street vendor in front of Gupo Dog Meat Market in Busan, Korea. She found her forever family 3 years ago.
Both Mia and Mitch were rescued from a high kill shelter in Changwon, Korea. Mia gave birth to two beautiful puppies and both were adopted locally. Mia on the other hand was still at the high kill shelter and was listed on the kill list. As soon as we posted her adoption profile, over 80 inquiries and adoption applications were received. We immediately transferred her to our foster and discovered she had a heart worm disease. We began the immiticide treatment for Mia and waited until she was healthy enough to travel to Los Angeles to be with her forever pet daddy.
Mitch once had a home but was abandoned by his own family. With many adoption applications received, we needed to find a foster while we continue with the adoption process for Mitch. Mitch is in good hands with his fosters in Alhambra, California.
ADOPTION UPDATE
Yesul and Darcy were both fostered in the Los Angeles area. Finding a flight volunteer is one of the biggest challenges, as we heavily depend on these ticketed passengers to help with pet travel. Luckily, we were blessed with two wonderful flight volunteers and we were able to secure two spots for both Yesul and Darcy.
Yesul was born at the shelter and gave birth to 4 dogs before I turned 1 year old. Unfortunately, due to the lack of funds raised to properly neuter and spay all dogs, she ended up getting pregnant. All of her puppies were adopted and she was still left behind at Kong Kong’s Shelter. Volunteers at felt sorry leaving her at the shelter decided to find a foster to take care of her.
Yesul with her new forever family in Altadena, California.
For the first time, Yesul experienced what it’s like to live in a “real home”. She never really had experience dealing with people. It took nearly 2 months to get adjusted to a new lifestyle. We really took our time finding the right home for Yesul. We needed a family to fully understood her needs. We definitely wanted a family who had daughters as she opened up to our volunteer Jeannie’s daughters.
After reviewing many applications, we found a forever home for Yesul in Altadena where she will be loved by her pet parents and three beautiful sisters. Special thanks to our adopters @lollalandusa for welcoming Yesul as their youngest pet daughter. For updates on Yesul, her Instagram is @yesul_kongkongshelter ❤️
Darcy with her new pet parents. She found her forever home in Marina del Rey, California.
Darcy was neglected by her previous owner and was forced to be chained up in a small balcony. Darcy’s pet owner was later arrested for criminal activities and was sent to prison. The landlord had no choice but to dump her at a local veterinary hospital. Darcy found her forever home in Marina del Rey and her pet parents already began showering her with gifts. She had no problems getting adjusted to her new home as she knew this was her “forever home”.
Special thanks to our adopters for welcoming Darcy as their pet daughter. She now has a new name of Waffle @woof_itswaffle ❤️
