UPDATE ON ADOPTION PROCESS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Hello everyone! Hope all of you are staying healthy and safe. We are truly grateful for the love and support we receive from all of you. This means a lot to us! Thank you so much! Due to overwhelming receipt of adoption applications for all of our canines available for adoption, we will no longer receive applications effective today. (except Milk and Jeremy)
We began reaching out to approved potential adopters via email 2 weeks ago. If you have not responded to our email, we will assume you’re no longer interested in adopting and delete your adoption application securely.
Starting today, we will reach out to more approved applicants via email. Due to the high volume of emails and messages received on a daily basis, we cannot answer all of them. Please trust us that we do check every emails and DM’s and will only answer to current approved adopters and rescuers.
Should you have questions to specific canines you’re interested in adoption, please read their adoption profiles. If there’s a specific behaviors and/or health concerns, we included on their adoption profile as we firmly believe in transparency. Don’t forget to check out our FAQS page.
Thank you,
Hannah K.
Milk is currently being fostered in Incheon, Korea. He is looking for a forever home in California.
UPDATE ON OVERSEA ADOPTION
Hello everyone,
I hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe during this horrific COVID-19 pandemic. As you may know, United States is now the epicenter of COVID-19 and we had no choice but to make a tough decision to postpone all pet travel until May or June 2020. Many of our flight volunteers (passengers) have postponed their upcoming trip to Los Angeles and/or other cities during this pandemic. As Governor Newsom ordered “Stay at Home” order, we do not want our volunteers and/or adopters to drive to airports to pick up adopted pets.
If you’ve already submitted an adoption application for pets that are currently fostered in Seoul, Korea and still interested in moving forward with our adoption process, please send us an email or message us with your name and the name of the pet you’re interested in adopting from us. If we don’t hear back from you, we will assume that you’re no longer interested in adopting a canine from Korea and will securely delete your adoption application.
If you have not yet submitted an adoption application with us, we will no longer accept applications for following pets:
Spring (Maltese), Kahn (Poodle), Autumn (Poodle), and Peanut (Maltese).
For all other pets, please fill out our online adoption application.
As we're just group of individuals volunteering our personal time, we do not contact if your adoption application is not approved. For those who have not qualified to be oversea adopters, we will securely delete your adoption application.
Questions? Most of the questions are answered on our FAQS page. Please be sure to check out our NEWS page as well for the latest update on oversea adoption or check our Instagram or Facebook for updates.
Thank you for your interest in adopting precious lives of Republic of Korea and please continue to practice social distancing. Let’s hope this pandemic will end soon. Be safe!
Sincerely,
Hannah K.

UPDATE ON OVERSEA ADOPTION PROCESS
Hello all,
Hope you and your family are safe and healthy. It’s been only a week since stay at home order was issued by the Los Angeles County in response of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and it seems like it’s been a month. Majority of us are social distancing to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. As many of you know, the COVID-19 is now spread to more than 53,000 people and more than 600 deaths in the U.S. alone. Please do whatever you can to stay home.
Looking for companionship while you’re home? Since, we don’t know when this pandemic will end, please consider fostering. Please check with your local animal shelter and rescue organizations for more information.
Presently, Shadow, Kona, and Kenji are fostered in Los Angeles area. We will reach out to the potential adopters for these three fur babies this coming week. Please be sure check your email beginning tomorrow.
As for other available canines (fostered in Korea), we will continue to with oversea adoption process mid April. We made a tough decision to put a hold on all oversea adoptions until mid April. If you’ve already submitted your adoption application, we will contact you within two weeks via email.
*If your adoption application is approved. Please note, we check every submitted adoption applications. Don’t forget to check out our FAQs page!
Meanwhile, please consider fostering and/or adopting a canine in need from your local animal shelters. Animal shelters in Los Angeles county need us! Please reach out to them.
Once again, if you’ve submitted an application, please be sure to check your email next month. We will begin rescheduling phone interviews for next month! Be safe and healthy!
Thank you,
Hannah K.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM JOEY & BAILEY
Hello everyone,
I hope you and your family are safe and taking the necessary precautions. Like you, I am concerned about recent developments surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19). I have been closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19 and adopting precautionary procedures to remain operational for our oversea adoption. I am in contact with our networks for the safest way for our rescued dogs to arrive in Los Angeles safely.
As mentioned previous on our post and as well as on our NEWS section, COVID-19 is unlikely to be transmitted to dogs and they can’t spread it. Per Center of Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), “While this virus seems to have emerged from an animal source, it is now spreading from person-to-person in China. There is no reason to think that any animals including pets in the United States might be a source of infection with this new coronavirus.” There is no known report of coronavirus being transferred from dogs to humans.
Presently, both Korean Air and Asiana Airlines have either suspended or reduced routes for North America until April 25, 2019. For Los Angeles, only one flight is currently operational. We do have confirmed flight volunteers who will be traveling after April 25, 2019 to Los Angeles and our priority is to make sure the following rescued dogs are on board to meet their new families:
Bella, Daisy, Kahn, and Spring.
We presently have 3 dogs are with fosters here in Los Angeles:
Shadow (Terrier Mix Puppy), Kona (Smoyed Mix), and Kenji (Husky Mix)
For now, we will continue with our adoption process for all remaining dogs and will suspend all rescues in Korea until this COVID-19 pandemic comes to an end. Please be sure to check out our FAQ page as it contains all information pertaining to our oversea adoption.
Thank you,
Hannah K.
REGARDING CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
Hello everyone,
Thank you so much for your continuous love and support for us. I decided to do another update pertaining to the recent outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19). As many of you are aware, this horrific virus originated from Wuhan, China.
For more information, please click here.
All of our adopters will agree that all of our rescued canines are greatly taken care of. We always make sure all of the canines rescued from our group are fully vetted. Please refer to the previous post regarding the type of vaccines all of our rescued canines receive.
We had four rescued canines arrived in Los Angeles without any issues in the midst of this chaos. Presently we have four on standby for their next flight. Our next flight scheduled will be April 29, 2020. Please be sure to check out this page and as well as our social media for the latest updates on oversea adoption.
Sincerely,
Hannah K.
Shadow arrived on February 28, 2020.
UPDATE ON OVERSEA ADOPTION PROCESS
Hello everyone! Today, the State of California declared coronavirus COVID-19 emergency after the first death of diagnose individual. This individual was an elder. We are fully aware of this and taking extra caution in arranging transportation of rescued canines.
As many of you may know, the current coronavirus is different from canine coronavirus. All of our rescued dogs are fully vetted and receive the following vaccines:
Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus Vaccine, and Leptospirosis
Coronavirus
Influenzavirus
Kennel Cough
Rabies
Current coronavirus COVID-19 is spreading through the human population and has nothing to do with canine coronavirus. For more information on coronavirus, please visit CDC (Center of Disease Control & Prevention).
Two of our rescued dogs entered Los Angeles less than a week ago without any issues. Part of the reason why I decided to post regarding this issue is we had one racist ignorant individual (AKC member) accusing us of importing dogs that are possibly infected with the coronavirus. It seems like this is a great opportunity for racist ignorants to pull the “racism card”.
Once again, we would like to reassure our followers that all of our dogs are in healthy conditions and we will abide by the regulations set by USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and CDC (Center of Disease Control & Prevention).
Thanks for your continuous love and support! Together, let’s remain strong!

UPDATE ON SIHEUNG DOGMEAT FARM IN KOREA
All 65 dogs are now removed from this dogmeat farm. Tomorrow starting at 9 a.m. (Korean Time), all goats will be moved by truck and the bulldozers will arrive on the site.
Korea is the only country that promotes their own breed Korean Jindo as dogmeats. The Korean Jindo is a breed of hunting dog that originated on Jindo Island in South Korea. Jindos are known to be very loyal to their owners. Unfortunately, there is no demand for Korean Jindos any longer as household pets. Majority of the Korean Jindos found in the dogmeat farms and slaughterhouses or chained up rest of their lives.
Everyday, these dogs watch their friends being tortured and slaughtered in front of their cages. Not knowing when they'll be slaughtered, they live in fears and hide in the corner hoping that they will live one more day. Majority of the dogs rescued from dogmeat farm are infected with heartworm disease and corona. Yet, people want to eat them?
For us to treat each dogs, the estimate is between $600-$2000 (USD) depending on their health conditions. The first group of dogs admitted to the vet were diagnosed with heartworm and corona. We're hoping and praying that remaining dogs are healthier. (Crossing our fingers). Presently, amount owed to the vet is roughly at $3000 USD. The vet will not discharge the current dogs and make room for more unless we take care of outstanding balance.
Those of you that are new and not familiar with us, thank you for your generosity and thank you for trusting us. Just to give you a brief history on us, we're just group of three girls from the states that have great passions for animals, particularly dogs. We've decided to devote our personal time in an effort to help save precious lives in Korea. Presently, Annie and Ivy are residing in Korea, shutting down dogmeat farms in Korea. You would think these two girls do not have full time jobs. All of us work full time and yet, we manage to rescue and find homes for rescued dogs. If we're lucky, we'll get 4 hours of sleep.
It seems like no rescue organizations want to help shutting down dogmeat farms and/or slaughterhouses. You see many advertisements on social media raising funds in an effort to shutdown dogmeat farms. We completely stopped relying on large rescue organizations based in Korea and other parts of the world from our personal experiences.
In the past, we had one well known rescue organization using our photos to raise funds all over social media. We received zero funds from this organization. Then, they staged like it was their rescue to receive more funds by stealing our rescued dogs overnight. All of us were appalled by their unethical action and completely lost all faith and trust in their so-called rescue organization. Hence, our decision to never work with large rescue organizations. FYI, No rescue organizations are shutting down any dogmeat farms in Korea currently.
If you're planning on donating to an animal rescue organization on a regular basis, please do your research prior to donating. Find out what percentage of your donated funds are actually used towards the rescue and see if their website provide expense sheets. We don't believe in having large operating expense. We seldom raise funds towards a rescue and this is only the second official fundraising hosted by us.
We believe in transparency of all donations received. All donations and expenses will be managed by us three girls. Just like the previous fundraising we did for Yansang, we will post receipts and invoices on our site. Your funds will be used to cover for medical expenses only. We will be paying the vet directly! This will be the last rescue for Ivy before she moves back to the states.
Thank you in advanced for helping us save previous lives. Thank you so much for your support. This means a lot to us.
UPDATE ON SIEHUNG DOGMEAT FARM RESCUE IN KOREA
Rescuers will now begin demolishing all cages at the farm today as you’re reading this. Last two dogs were removed from this farm. We received many messages today pertaining to this particular rescue. Some of you may be upset and angry about the dog meat trade in Korea. We’re more angry than you are so please do not send us messages and give us your opinions on dog meat trade or how the Korean government is corrupted. You’re slowing down this whole rescue operations and doesn’t bring any value to the table. If you’re mad at the world, please take it out on your significant other, not us! We got work to do.
Also, please don’t bother tagging large organizations. In the past, we found a large organization using our photos to raise funds and we received nothing. Please do your research prior to donating. Find out what percentage of your donated funds are used towards the actual rescue. Ledger sheet will be nice! No rescue organizations are shutting down any dogmeat farms in Korea.
Ways you can help:
Donate via GoFundMe page. It’s the safest because it’s us three that’s managing the funds.
Share and tag your local rescue organizations if they have room to take some of the dogs in and help contribute.
We believe in transparency of all donations received. All donations and expenses will be managed by Annie and Ivy. Just like the previous fundraising we did for Yansang, we will post receipts and invoices on our site. Your funds will be used to cover for medical expenses only. All funds received via GoFundMe is managed by us three girls and we will be paying the vet directly!
This will be the last rescue for Ivy before she moves back to the states. Thank you in advanced for helping us save previous lives. Please read the full story on this rescue on our NEWS page on our site.
SIHEUNG DOGMEAT FARM RESCUE IN KOREA
We started a GoFundMe page to help cover medical expenses for these dogs rescued from Siheing Dogmeat Farm. Majority are still at the farm as the rescuers don’t have enough funds to cover their medical expenses. Just like the previous fundraising for Yansang Dogmeat Farm, we will post every receipts and invoices as we believe in transparent fundraising.
It all started when Ivy met Annie's friend Sieun @sanha9204 at the vet. Sieun recommended a vet to Ivy for the 3 kittens she had rescued off the street near her house. They randomly ran into each other at this vet on December 20, 2019 and Ivy found Sieun crying. Ivy asked her what's wrong and she mentioned about a dogmeat farm in Siheung she found with Park from CARE.
They witnessed approximately 80 dogs caged in filth with their own feces. She said no one was willing to help and Park had no money or space at their shelter as they already have 600 dogs that are either not adoptable or waiting to be adopted. They barely have enough funds to cover for kibble for their shelter dogs. Sieun begged Ivy to at least repost her Instagram post, asking Korean citizens to contact Siheung city officials to help these dogs.
Knowing clearly that a single repost could change Ivy’s life and bring on responsibility for these dogs, she took a chance as Sieun had helped Ivy with her 3 orphaned kittens. Soon after Ivy reposted, a previous donor from Hanam and Yangsan dog rescues commented that she was willing to help these dogs and wanted Ivy to move forward with this rescue. With Ivy’s big move back to the U.S. coming up in a few months, she was reluctant, but she couldn't stop seeing the dog's desperate pleas from the video Sieun showed her.
Ivy called Annie to help her to do this one last rescue before she move back to the U.S. Sieun happened to mention about this rescue to Annie and we had a brief discussion regarding this rescue during her trip to Los Angeles. With Annie’s wedding coming up in March, there was no way she had the time or energy to help with this rescue. With holiday season around the corner, I didn’t want to stress myself out with coordinating for fundraising. We both felt terrible but at the end of the day, we all had our personal lives.
Ivy felt terrible asking Annie for help knowing her wedding is in March and she was also moving end of this week. Annie was of course reluctant and said no. Her brain was about to explode. She then called Ivy the very next day and told Ivy she had nightmares about the Siheung dogs and had woken up screaming. Her heart wouldn't allow her to forget their pleading eyes for help. She agreed to do this rescue with Ivy. They dove headfirst, but now they’re both drowning.
Ivy decided to contact me couple days ago regarding this rescue. I was hesitant to read her messages sent via KakaoTalk. Ugh!!!!! I fell for it again. I just couldn’t help thinking about the dogs being caged up living in fear. So here we are again asking for your help! This will be the second fundraising hosted by us to help cover medical expenses for 65 dogs and 15 goats.
We believe in transparent fundraising. Just like the previous fundraising we did for Yansang, we will post receipts and invoices on our site. This will be the last rescue for Ivy before she moves back to the states. Thank you in advanced for helping us save previous lives.
Any amount will be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE ON YANGSAN DOG FARM RESCUE
Thank you so much for your continuous love and support for this rescue. As mentioned on our original posting, three girls got together to save 64 dogs from an illegally operated dog farm located in Yangsan, Korea. So much had happened after our last update back in May here on the site. It was nearly impossible for us to update on all of our social media and asked for you to follow for updates on Annie’s Instagram.
Below, please find the expense sheet along with receipts and invoices for your review. We did receive more donations after the ending date of 8/16/2019. We will provide more updates once it reaches a certain number for us to make another transfer to Annie’s account to take care of remaining bills.
Remaining balance on our sheet was taken care by separate fundraising held in Korea. Presently, there are total of 32 currently being fostered and placed in boarding facilities: 20 (fostered), 9 (pet boarding), and 3 (vet hospital). Out of 32 dogs, 28 dogs will need to find a home in Korea due to their size, medical condition and/ or being too young.
Annie will continue to provide more updates on her Instagram: @anniehammy_. I also will update on here on our site as well as our Instagram account: @joeyandbailey
Annie, Ivy and I would like to thank each and everyone one of you who trusted us and believed in us. Once again, I apologize for delay in posting the expense sheet. We definitely wanted to make a difference in transparency and ethical fundraising for dogs in need of our help. Furthermore, we wanted to show the world how the rescue process work in Korea. Rescuing dogs from dog meat trade takes a lot of time, money, and energy. All the volunteers participated in the actual rescue work full time. However, they managed to make time to help save these precious lives.
After the rescuing of 64 dogs from Yangsan, Annie and her team in Korea rescued 80 more behind the scenes. They just couldn’t help but to rescue as one of the slaughter house employee decided to burn a live dog with a torch in front of our volunteers. Either Annie or myself will update you soon on our Social Media.
Thank you all for you continuous love and support.
Love,
Annie, Ivy and Hannah <3
